Running Lingo:
Anatomy

A typical Lingo: session will run as follows:
- Open Lingo:
- Select the dataset you wish to use in the topmost selection box.
- Select the direction you want the dataset to run in the second selection box (e.g. "English > French" or "French > English").
- The action button will display the word START. Press this button to present the first prompt.
- Think, say or draw on a notepad your response.
- The action button will display the word SHOW. Press this button to display the correct answer to the prompt.
- If your response matches the answer, press the RIGHT button; if not, press the WRONG button.
- Press the NEXT button to receive the next randomly chosen prompt. Prompts to which you give the wrong response will be re-presented at the end of the first cycle of prompts. This will continue until you have responded correctly to all prompts.
- When all prompts have been responded to correctly you will see the word RESTART appear in the action button. You may press this to repeat the same dataset or you may choose a new dataset (and direction) from the selection boxes at the top of the window.
- At any time you may adjust the size of the font used in the prompt and answer windows. This only affects textual prompts/answers, not images.
You may close Lingo: by clicking the standard window close button ( ) at the top right of the program window. The other button ( ) will minimize Lingo: to the task bar. |
